Thanksgiving Essentials- Food

Hello Everyone!  I've missed you all!  Obviously life has been a bit crazy, tonight ends Military Birthday Ball season as well as Wedding season so I finally will have somewhat of a life again!  We have so much to catch up on and so much preparation for the upcoming holidays!  For this week I'm going to touch on some of the Thanksgiving Holiday Essentials... starting with what better than FOOD!  Enjoy!

Thanksgiving Essentials

Turkey-  This is the star of your show, unless you are hosting a vegetarian Thanksgiving you got to have a bird!  My mother-in law swears by her Butterball Turkey and make sure quote, "it is NEVER frozen."

Potatoes- Some form of Tater is necessary at Thanksgiving! Whether they are roasted, mashed, baked, fried, casserole, sweet, red, or a Yukon Gold...be sure to pack your taters!

Green Beans- You have to have some "green" food, green beans are always a great staple!  Whether you do a Green Beans Almodine, Sauteed, Boiled, or even in a Casserole usually everyone likes green beans!

Winter Squash- Whether you are serving it as a dish or using them as part of your holiday festive display, squash is a must for Thanksgiving!  I love a roasted acorn squash or even better... butternut squash soup!

Cinnamon- Multiple recipes will call for this ingredient... it truly is a must have! Add it to a saucepan with some apple cider, an orange slice, and some cloves and simmer on low heat to fill your home with the most amazing aroma!

Cranberries- Do you ever eat them any other time of year?  Go on and get them, its a must have for the complete Thanksgiving Dinner!

Bread- Stuffing... DUH!  I will be sure to share my husbands Mamaw's recipe, it includes apples and Mandarin oranges and is out of this world!

Rosemary- Rosemary is a very plentiful herb to have on Thanksgiving... use it in potatoes, stuffing, roasted root vegetables, and with your turkey.

Pumpkin Pure- Pumpkin Pie, Pumpkin Crisp, Pumpkin Bread.... Something Pumpkin!

Apple's- I'm adding this on although there is not a photo.  Apple Pie, Apple Cider, Apple Crisp, Apple Salad... apples are definitely need to be part of Thanksgiving!
